What is Calculator: Definition and 516 Discussions
An electronic calculator is typically a portable electronic device used to perform calculations, ranging from basic arithmetic to complex mathematics.
The first solid-state electronic calculator was created in the early 1960s. Pocket-sized devices became available in the 1970s, especially after the Intel 4004, the first microprocessor, was developed by Intel for the Japanese calculator company Busicom. They later became used commonly within the petroleum industry (oil and gas).
Modern electronic calculators vary from cheap, give-away, credit-card-sized models to sturdy desktop models with built-in printers. They became popular in the mid-1970s as the incorporation of integrated circuits reduced their size and cost. By the end of that decade, prices had dropped to the point where a basic calculator was affordable to most and they became common in schools.
Computer operating systems as far back as early Unix have included interactive calculator programs such as dc and hoc, and calculator functions are included in almost all personal digital assistant (PDA) type devices, the exceptions being a few dedicated address book and dictionary devices.
In addition to general purpose calculators, there are those designed for specific markets. For example, there are scientific calculators which include trigonometric and statistical calculations. Some calculators even have the ability to do computer algebra. Graphing calculators can be used to graph functions defined on the real line, or higher-dimensional Euclidean space. As of 2016, basic calculators cost little, but scientific and graphing models tend to cost more.
In 1986, calculators still represented an estimated 41% of the world's general-purpose hardware capacity to compute information. By 2007, this had diminished to less than 0.05%.

I am using a SHARP EL-546W scientific calculator, and I do not know what steps to take in order to find a point given an x value. i.e. if x=3, then y=6. I cannot seem to get 6 on my own and I have tried a wide variety of methods and...
Hello, I do a lot math and physics work, (predominantly advanced fundamental theories), and have consistently been hindered by a particular issue when it comes to a few of my defined functions. I feel like it would be a kind of "order of execution" issue with a simple solution, but though I've...

I've recently started doing a lot more residential structural engineering for local clients and the first thing that I realized was that I was lacking a good beam calculator. I do have a number of spreadsheet calculators but I've found them hard to program and once I do have them programmed...
I was wondering how that could be done.
I tried 0,2 ---> 1/5, then 167 ^(1/5) , which should lead to 5√167 (fifth root of 167) , but I can't seem to move on from there
Does anyone know of an online calculator that can form an equation of a curve with complex values and lots parameters?
An advanced curve fitting calculator

I can do some of the problems on this, but some I can't figure out. The answers on these listed I am getting wrong, I covered up the ones I know. I am obviously making a mistake typing them in my calculator. The ones with the e not in the exponent but the base, I can't figure out how to enter...
Hello I have a TI-84 Plus calculator and during my math class we were doing log functions on the calculator and I was met with the err "Argument". I don't know what this means, but from what I've heard my calculator is missing the required software to run a log. I should clarify that when I say...
Help!Strange problem with scientific calculator.
I was doing chemical equilibrium problems where one of the steps required me to square the reciprocal.

So my numerical analysis class requires me perform iterations involving huge expressions into my strictly NON-graphical scientific calculator. It often happens so that my current calculator (CASIO fx-911ES PLUS) does not allow me to feed in it a expression which goes beyond its input memory...
Im trying to determine the exact solutions (in degrees) to the trig equation shown below. I'm only interested in solutions over the interval [0, 360) . In my ti-83+, I input the function as y= 6(1/cos(X))^2*tan(X)-12tan(X). If I already know the number of solutions is 6, how can I tell this from...
Hi,
Does anyone know a program that I can put on my TI-84 calculator that will allow me to input any transfer function and get the state space representation of the system or the other way around.

My university bans the use of calculator with any math class.
What is your opinion on this? I didn't like it at first but then I realized there isn't any arithmetic in my math class so the calculator was useless anyways.
Thoughts?
