Can retired scientists still contribute to their fields?

In summary, retired scientists can still make significant contributions to their fields through various means such as mentoring younger scientists, conducting research projects, and sharing their expertise and knowledge with the scientific community. They can also continue to publish papers and participate in conferences, keeping themselves updated and relevant in their respective fields. Retirement does not limit a scientist's ability to contribute and their experience and insights can be valuable assets in advancing their fields.

Hello, I just joined.

Worked a long time in (civil) nuclear, in connection with the safety organisations. I'm retired from paid employment but I learned some time ago that scientists don't stop working simply because they're retired, they just no longer get paid for it.

Long time interested in cosmology, mathematics which I can turn my attention to now I have the time.
