What materials can be used in an egg drop challenge without tape or glue?

In summary, the conversation revolved around the rules and materials for an egg drop design project. The rule was to not use any tape or glue, and the materials allowed included a balloon, toothpick, string, paperclip, straw, cotton ball, pipe cleaner, rubber band, paper, cup, newspaper, and plastic sheet. The goal was to successfully land the egg on the Moon using only a limited number of these materials.

Our class is making an egg drop design but the rule is we can't use any tape or glue and we can only use these materials

1. How do you create an egg drop without using tape or glue?

There are a few different methods for creating an egg drop without using tape or glue. One method is to use materials that can be interlocked or woven together, such as popsicle sticks or toothpicks. Another method is to use materials that can be molded or shaped around the egg, such as clay or playdough.

2. What materials can I use to create an egg drop without tape or glue?

Some common materials that can be used for an egg drop without tape or glue include popsicle sticks, toothpicks, straws, paper cups, and balloons. You can also get creative and use materials such as cotton balls, bubble wrap, or even spaghetti noodles!

3. How can I make sure my egg stays intact during the drop?

One key factor in creating a successful egg drop without tape or glue is to provide enough cushioning for the egg. This can be achieved by using materials that absorb shock, such as cotton balls or bubble wrap. It's also important to make sure the egg is securely held in place and cannot move around too much.

4. Can I use any type of egg for an egg drop without tape or glue?

While chicken eggs are the most commonly used for egg drops, you can also use other types of eggs such as duck eggs or even plastic eggs. Just make sure to adjust your design accordingly based on the size and weight of the egg you are using.

5. What are some tips for creating a successful egg drop without tape or glue?

Some tips for creating a successful egg drop without tape or glue include using materials that are lightweight but strong, testing your design before the actual drop, and making sure the egg is securely held in place. You can also try incorporating multiple layers of cushioning or using a parachute to slow the egg's descent.
