heyy...can anyone tell me where to get some stuff about mechanical calculators...like mechanisms used, their working...are gears and slide rule the only way you can make a mechanical calculator?...thanks
A mechanical calculator is a device that uses gears, slide rules, and other mechanisms to perform mathematical calculations. It was used before electronic calculators were invented and is still used in some specialized fields today.
Mechanical calculators use a series of gears and slides to represent numbers and perform calculations. The user inputs numbers and operations using buttons or knobs, and the gears and slides are manipulated to produce the desired result.
One advantage of using a mechanical calculator is that it does not require a power source, making it reliable in settings where electricity may not be available. It is also less prone to errors compared to manual calculation methods.
Mechanical calculators are limited in their functionality and can only perform basic mathematical operations. They also require manual input and are not programmable, making them less efficient for complex calculations.
While electronic calculators have largely replaced mechanical calculators in everyday use, they are still used in specialized fields such as engineering, finance, and science. They are valued for their accuracy and reliability in these fields.
