Graduating Senior - In need of some guidance

In summary, a graduating senior is seeking guidance on pursuing a double major in Physics and Mathematics in University. Despite not having advanced academic opportunities in high school, they are determined to catch up to their college peers. It is possible with hard work and utilizing resources such as office hours, tutoring, and study groups. Although taking advanced classes in high school would have been advantageous, it is not impossible to achieve success in college with dedication and effort.

Graduating Senior -- In need of some guidance!

Hello Physics Forums, I'd like to start off with the fact that I've read quite a bit on here, and I have seen and appreciated how helpful and generous everyone is with their opinions and information. I'm here now to ask for some advice. I plan on double majoring in Physics and Mathematics in University, and I want continue on into graduate school and so on.
I am a senior in high school, and while my grades were sub par (3.4/1950 SATs), they do not reflect the time and effort I plan on putting into undergraduate college. Along with these grades, I did not take the opportunities to advance myself academically, and so I am only completing Calculus AB and Physics B this year. I know a lot of people have these courses, and sometimes more, completed by the time they leave high school, which leads me to believe that I am far behind the competition. My question is this: Will it be easy, difficult, or nigh impossible for me to catch up to the "elite" of my college class? Thank you for your response in advance!

It is definitely possible to catch up to the "elite" of your college class, but it will definitely take hard work and dedication. You should make sure to use the resources available to you at your college to get as much help as possible with your courses. Take advantage of office hours, tutoring, and study groups in order to build a strong foundation for your academic success. Taking advanced classes in high school would have definitely been beneficial, but don't let that discourage you. With enough effort and determination, you can still make up for lost time and achieve success in college. Good luck!
