In summary, inside jokes in astrophysics communities serve as a way for individuals to bond and create a sense of camaraderie within the field. These jokes often contain references to scientific concepts, famous figures, or specific events in the astrophysics world, making them exclusive to those within the community. Understanding these inside jokes requires a deep knowledge and involvement in the field, further solidifying the sense of belonging within the community. However, they can also serve as a barrier for outsiders, potentially perpetuating a sense of exclusivity within the astrophysics community. Overall, inside jokes play a significant role in fostering a sense of community and connection among astrophysicists.

Obviously the most important step in becoming successfully included in a new group is to know their most popular and intricate inside jokes. So, here I am. To steal your jokes.

Yes, domain specific humor is a good barometer of "in-ness."

Here is our current science jokes thread and here are just plain lame jokes that are sometimes science but always lame.

It's possible I contribute more to these threads than to substantive science based threads. Oh well.

Someone needs to be the comical relief in this stressful time of space exploration in hopes of saving the human race. I think you're just fine.
