Thank you! Okay, I understand the partial derivates can't vanish part :)
But for the bounded region,
So I would just plug in the points given by the vertices into the function right?
Hello :)
I'm struggling a bit on how I can find steps to solve problems like this, because my mind goes all over the place.
Find absolute min and max of f(x,y) = 18-3x+6y on a closed triangular region with vertices (0,0), (6,0), and (6,9).
I still struggle with partial derivatives and take a...
Hello, I'm doing:
Find absolute min/max of f(x)=x^3-12x^2-27x+8
First I found derivative and when I solved, I got x=9 and x=-1.
So I have to find max/min for 3 different intervals:
a) [-2,0]
And I thought absolute max=-1 and absolute min = none?
b) [1,10]
max= none
min= none
c) [-2,10]...
Hello! Thank you :)
So basically that inflection point at x=1/3 you proposed can't be true is what you're saying, right?
After I looked at the problem and thought about it more I guess for this problem, it's not possible to give a direct inflection point, just what it should be between...I think?
Hello!
Thank you for your help!
Oh I see! After I drew the graph, I understood that the inflection point is near x=1.
What I'm confused on is how I can find the values of a and b using that equation you wrote?
I tried to expand it, but it clearly got more weird and long so if you could help me...
Hello again :)
I am doing a question in which I have to find the mistake that is in one of these points and must change one of these criteria to make it correct. So first I am drawing a graph to get an outline of what it looks like.
-f(x) is defined on (−∞, ∞) and differentiable twice through...
Hi, I'm having some trouble with finding the limit for this question:
I can use the l'hopital's rule which I tried.. I tried pi, 2pi, 0, inf, none seem to work so if I could have some help that would be appreciated!
limx→0 \frac{cos5x-cos6x}{x^2}
Would the degree rule apply here? It wouldn't...
Hi! Thank you! I'm still a bit confused:confused:
So I'm just stuck on how the graph is going to look. From the info, so basically, to the left of the point (3,6), would I draw a upwards graph curve to make a concave up? And to the right of point (3,6) would I draw the graph facing / going...
Hi!
I'm struggling with this question. I'm supposed to draw a graph that follows and has these features:
- Domain of f is0<x<12
- f′ is increasing on (−∞,3)
- f′′ <0 on (3,6)
- f′ is Concave Up on (6, 9)
- f has infelction point at x=9!
I don't know if I can get help because this is a drawing...
Hello!
Can someone help me with the process of solving
\sqrt{x}+\sqrt{y}=5 on point (4,9)?
With implicit, I differntiated both sides and ended up with 1/2x^-1/2+1/2y^-1/2\d{y}{x}=0
and I tried to isolate the dy/dx, but how do I get rid of the others?
And with explicit, I isolated y to one side...
Hello!
I'm confused on a question that states: by pythagorus, sin^2x+cos^2x=1 for any x. Suppose that y=-cos^4x=sin^4x.
If d^2x/dt^2=0, find d^2y/dt^2 when dx/dt=1/2
I first found dy/dt = 2sinxcosx
and ended up with \d{^2y}{t^2} = cos^2x-sin^2x, and I was wondering if this is right?
\d{b}{t}h+5b=0
Is what I got! (I hope I'm doing the tags correctly this time:) )
and then I isolated \d{b}{t} and ended up with... -1 !
Is this the correct process?
Thank you!
Hi! :)
Okay so if A is a constant and you differentiate, would I get : 2= (\d{db}{dt})h+(\d{dh}{dt})b ??
And since h= 5b
I just insert h into the h in the equation above??
Hi!
I recently came upon this problem : the height of a right angled triangle is increasing at a rate of 5cm/min while the area is constant. How fast must the base be decreasing at the moment when the height is 5 times the base?
I drew a picture of the triangle, labelled the height (h) and...
Hello!
I'm trying to find the 2nd derivative of y(t)=tan5t.
I first found the first derivative.. and got y'(t)=sec^2(5t)(5) --> 5sec^2(5t)
--> 5/(cos^2(5t)
But to find the 2nd derivative I'm confused...
I got until y"(t)=\frac{cos^2(5t)(5)'-(5)(cos^2(5t))'}{(cos^2(5t)(cos^2(5t))}
