In summary, ZapperZ believes that longer Curriculum Vitae (CVs) with more information are preferred by hiring committees in order to make the best decision on the top candidates to invite for interviews. This is because more information allows for a thorough evaluation and consideration of the top 6-10 applicants. However, only the top 3 candidates would typically receive invitations for interviews, after several hours of review and consideration.

When I've been on hiring committees, we always wanted more info on candidates rather than less when trying to pick the top three candidates to invite for interviews. For this reason, I prefer longer CVs with more information rather than less. Sure, we may not make it past page 3 for the bottom half of CVs in the application pool, but narrowing the top 6-10 down to the top 3 required all the information we could get. Those top 6-10 applications would usually get several hours of attention each before a decision was made on who to invite for interviews.
