Whats the tension T' in string 1 if tension of highlighted string is T

In summary, tension refers to the pulling or stretching force applied to a string and can affect its vibration and sound production. It is typically measured in units of force and can be affected by factors such as type, thickness, material, temperature, and force applied. Tension plays a crucial role in determining the pitch and tone of a string instrument, and it can be adjusted by changing the length, tuning pegs, or using certain techniques. Care must be taken to make small adjustments to avoid damage.

Relevant Equations
If we consider string as uniform then T'=T but if make fbd of pulley 1 the T'-2T-ma1=0 = T'=2T as m=0 for the given pulley. This is contradicting

Related to Whats the tension T' in string 1 if tension of highlighted string is T

1. What is tension in a string?

Tension in a string is the amount of force applied on the string in order to keep it taut and straight.

2. How is tension measured in a string?

Tension in a string is measured in units of force, such as Newtons or pounds.

3. What factors affect the tension in a string?

The tension in a string is affected by the length, mass, and stiffness of the string, as well as the force applied to it.

4. What is the role of tension in a string?

Tension in a string plays a crucial role in maintaining the shape and stability of the string, as well as in producing sound in musical instruments.

5. How can the tension in a string be changed?

The tension in a string can be changed by adjusting the length, mass, or stiffness of the string, or by varying the force applied to it.
