What is the name of this electronic component

In summary, The conversation revolves around identifying a component that appears to be a resettable counter. One person suggests it could also be a four line multiplexer, but another person points out that it is labeled with 'R' and has 4 outputs, making it a BCD/decade counter similar to the 7490. The conversation concludes with someone asking for more context on where the component was found.

what is the name of this component? (Attached)

is it a counter.
i can't find the name of it.
is there an exact name for this type of the component.

It's kind of hard to see, but it does look like a resettable counter. Is the pin at the bottom Reset?

It is labeled with 'R' so I would assume so. I agree that this looks like a resettable counter but couldn't it also be a four line multiplexer? A little bit of context would help.

Enable, Clock and Reset are the only inputs, and there are 4 outputs labeled A B C D. A 42 DEMUX would require 1 logic inputs...

This component is BDC/decade counter almost equivalent with 7490

Since its labeled "÷16", it would be a resettable 4-bit counter - equivalent to the 7493.

Related to What is the name of this electronic component

1. What is the name of this electronic component?

The name of this electronic component is a resistor.

2. How does this electronic component work?

A resistor works by resisting the flow of electric current and reducing the amount of voltage in a circuit.

3. What is the purpose of this electronic component?

The purpose of a resistor is to control the amount of current and voltage in a circuit, and to protect other components from being damaged by too much electricity.

4. How do I identify this electronic component?

You can identify a resistor by its color bands, which indicate its resistance value, or by its physical size and shape.

5. Are there different types of this electronic component?

Yes, there are different types of resistors, such as carbon composition, wire wound, and surface mount, which have different resistance values, power ratings, and applications.
