Wednesday giggle - the origin of Evolution

In summary, the conversation is about a great cartoon and how we learned to fly. One person mentions an English phrase "on the fly" and its meaning, while the other person talks about how the cartoon does not reveal the whole story. The conversation also references another phrase "must fly!" which means to leave in a hurry. The cartoon in question shows a fish trying to escape by flying, with a reference to the phrase "To the Moon, Alice!" from the Honeymooners.

Great cartoon!

Now how did we learn to fly?
I don't know whether there is an english analogon. Here we say: I'm just out (= on the fly?) to fetch some cigarettes! (meaning: and won't be seen ever after.)

We say "must fly!" when we need to leave in a hurry, as a stronger form of "must run!" when late for something.

I think that the cartoon does not reveal the whole thing... Right after this scene, the second fish follows and there is no other way for the first to escape than flying:eek:
