The direction of the force applied by the water on the hose

In summary, the direction of the force applied by water on a hose is equal to the direction in which the water is flowing. This is due to the principle of action and reaction, where the force exerted by the water on the hose is matched by an equal and opposite force exerted by the hose on the water. This force can be increased or decreased by factors such as the speed and volume of the water, as well as the material and size of the hose. Understanding the direction of this force is important for effectively using a hose for tasks such as watering plants or fighting fires.

Water is flowing inside a garden hose. The hose is bent at some point, i.e., it has the shape of L. What is the direction of the force applied by the water on the hose around the bend? (Let's say that one of the arms of the L goes along +x direction and the other arm goes along the +y direction. In which direction is the force?)
