Hi Greg Bernhardt !

I’ve received your kind request to introduce myself via email . Well , there isn’t much to say about me. I am a marine engineer, took my university degree (italian “laurea” ) in 1968, and have worked in the shipping industry for many years...But I’ve never lost interest in science, in particular physics, and have also studied some relativity, both special and general. But before posting messages I need to take a look at this great (in any sense) forum. So first of all let me thank you again for this opportunity. I have some questions to submit, and a lot of curiosity to be satisfied...

I lived in Napes for a year from mid-'61 to mid-'62 but being, as I was, a teenager, I was far more interested in girls than in learning a foreign language (), so my Italian then was minimal and currently is non-existent. I did love it there and the view of Capri and Naples bay from the villa that my dad rented for us was spectacular.

Also, I had just recently been in Germany for almost 4 years and visited up there whenever I could. My German was poor but passable.

You can’t imagine ! I am neapolitan, and studied and worked there, until 1985. Then, the same company for which I worked moved me elsewhere, to north of Italy ... I go to Naples every now and then, but not in this bad Covid time, regretfully !
I have read just now your article about misconceptions on the balloon analogy in cosmology : perfect! You certainly know the following article by Lineweaver and Davis, regarding other misconceptions about the Big Bang:

https://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0310808

why don’t you write an article about that ? The grey matter must move in everybody

Can you help me please? I don’t know how to do. When you are writing a post, and must leave it not finished, is there the possibility to save it, in order to continue writing later on ? I haven’t found any indication in this sense. May be I am not well acquainted with procedures yet.

Thanks in advance.

Good question. What I do, for reliability, is to copy the partial post and past it into notepad++ but the system actually KEEPS your partial post. It MAY (I have sometimes had this happen) toss out the last few words you typed, but generally it keeps the whole thing. When you re-open the thread and go to the bottom where you would normally reply, you will find your partial post there waiting for you.

I suggest you do a partial reply to THIS thread and the leave it for a few minutes, then abandon the thread and come back to it later and see how it works.

understood. I will follow your suggestion tomorrow, now I am going to bed (00:48 here). But I am afraid that if I close the computer the partial message will be deleted. Better saving into notepad. Thank you.
