How to control volume by hovering & scrolling anywhere in Mac Menu Bar

In summary: So I would suggest checking if your keyboard has these function keys and using them to control the volume. In summary, the conversation is about how to control volume by hovering and scrolling anywhere in the Mac Menu Bar, similar to how it can be done in a PC with the "7+ Taskbar Tweaker" utility. The speaker suggests checking for a third party app or using the function keys on the keyboard as a possible solution.

Homework Statement:: How to control volume by hovering and scrolling anywhere in Mac Menu Bar
Relevant Equations:: none

Hi,

I use both Mac's and pc's. Mac's are great but here's one thing
I can do in my pc's that I have not been able to find how to do
in my Mac.

In my pc's (Win7, Win10) I have a utility called "7+ Taskbar Tweaker"
that has an option to allow me to control the speaker volume
by putting the mouse anywhere in the taskbar and as I scroll
up/down while the mouse is still in the taskbar the volume
changes up/down:

This is really very handy and so much more efficient than how
volume control is done in a Mac where one has to,
Mouse up to the Menu bar,
Click on the speaker,
Mouse over to the speaker slide,
Scroll and adjust the volume.

I'm hoping there is a way to have the same ability in a Mac that
I have in my pc's i.e., to control the volume by simply mousing
up to anywhere in the Menu bar and then simply scrolling up/down
to change the volume up/down.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a way to have this in a Mac?

Many thanks!

Does your keyboard have function keys? On my Mac, F10 mutes/unmutes the speaker, F11 decreases the volume, and F12 increases the volume.

1. How does volume control by hovering and scrolling work in the Mac Menu Bar?

The volume control feature utilizes the touchpad or mouse as a sensor to detect hovering and scrolling movements. When a user hovers over the volume icon in the Mac Menu Bar, the volume slider appears, and scrolling up or down adjusts the volume accordingly.

2. Can I customize the volume control sensitivity in the Mac Menu Bar?

Yes, the volume control sensitivity can be adjusted in the System Preferences under the Trackpad or Mouse settings. Users can adjust the scrolling speed and sensitivity to their preference.

3. Does the volume control feature work with third-party devices?

Yes, the volume control feature is compatible with third-party devices such as Bluetooth or USB-connected mice and trackpads. However, the sensitivity and functionality may vary depending on the device.

4. Is there a way to disable the volume control feature in the Mac Menu Bar?

Yes, the volume control feature can be disabled in the System Preferences under the Trackpad or Mouse settings. Users can uncheck the option for "Zoom in or out" under the scrolling section to disable the volume control feature.

5. Can I use the volume control feature in all applications on my Mac?

Yes, the volume control feature is integrated into the Mac Menu Bar and can be used in all applications. However, some applications may have their own volume controls that may override the Mac Menu Bar volume control.
