How Has Technology Transformed Traditional Physics Calculations?

Kevin Luxford
Let me introduce myself. I am Kevin Luxford. I graduated in Science, majoring in Physics, at Canterbury University, New Zealand, in 1963. I subsequently graduated in Engineering (Electrical) from the same university in 1966.

A year or so ago I had the opportunity to tour the Australian Synchrotron, and the tour brought the whole of my physics course together. Wonderful day!

Current interests in retirement are revisiting old projects that I completed as an undergrad, but using a desktop computer instead of the venerable IBM 1620. (I think that 1620 took about 20 seconds to invert a 4 x 4 matrix - my desktop computer running Fortran can invert a 6 x 6 matrix in less than a second.

Regards to all
Kevin
