Gravitational force between 2 people

In summary, the gravitational force between two people is the attraction between their masses as described by Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation. It can be calculated using the equation F = G (m1m2)/r^2, where G is the gravitational constant, m1 and m2 are the masses of the two individuals, and r is the distance between them. The force decreases as the distance between the two individuals increases and is significantly smaller than the force between two planets. It can be felt as a slight attraction, but is very small and can only be detected with sensitive instruments.

[SOLVED] Gravitational force between 2 people

OK, this is my first time doing this so I'm completely lost.

Homework Statement

Find the force of attraction between a 60kg student and another student of mass 80kg, 1.4m away.

Homework Equations

G = 6.67 * 10[tex]^-11[/tex] Nm[tex]^2[/tex]/kg[tex]^2[/tex]

Fg = [tex]\frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}[/tex]

The Attempt at a Solution

I tried [6.67 * 10^-11 (60kg)(80kg)] / 1.4m

But I'm wrong.

Your help is appreciated.

Related to Gravitational force between 2 people

1. What is the gravitational force between two people?

The gravitational force between two people is the attraction between their masses as described by Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation. It is dependent on the masses of the two individuals and the distance between them.

2. How is the gravitational force between two people calculated?

The gravitational force between two people can be calculated using the equation F = G (m1m2)/r^2, where G is the gravitational constant, m1 and m2 are the masses of the two individuals, and r is the distance between them.

3. Does the gravitational force between two people change with distance?

Yes, the gravitational force between two people will decrease as the distance between them increases. This is because the force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two individuals.

4. How does the gravitational force between two people compare to the force between two planets?

The gravitational force between two people is significantly smaller than the force between two planets, as their masses and distances are much larger. The force between two people is also affected by other factors, such as their relative positions and external forces, whereas the force between two planets is solely determined by their masses and distance.

5. Can the gravitational force between two people be felt?

Yes, the gravitational force between two people is always present and can be felt as a slight attraction towards each other. However, this force is very small and can only be detected with sensitive instruments.
