Exploring Engine Thermodynamics: A Comprehensive Resource Guide

In summary, if you need sources for engine thermodynamics, such as otto cycle, diesel cycle, seilinger cycle, performance, and combustion process, the text by Moran and Shapiro is a good resource. It is recommended to look for electronic or used copies for a decent price. However, if you want to explore more obscure topics, you may need to find specialist texts or papers. The principles and theory of internal combustion engine thermodynamics are the same as other thermodynamic situations. The book also has many examples and practice problems. Other recommended books include "Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach" by Çengel and Boles and "Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics" by Borgnakke.

I need sources such as web sites, books, or videos aiming engine thermodynamics subject such
as otto cycle,diesel cycle, seilinger cycle(combination of diesel and otto), performance, combustion process. Can you make give some advice.

If you want a good introduction to these topics and thermodynamics for applications in general, the text by Moran and Shapiro is great IMO. You can find a used, older edition for a decent price. There may even be electronic copies out there if you look.

I have thermodynamics books , and I have your advice book as well but , I think, engine thermodynamics is a little different from general thermodynamics.For example I haven't encountered seilinger cycle in such books.
meanwhile what is the abbreviation IMO?

IMO = in my opinion

There are many different modifications to the basic Otto and Diesel cycles; some like the Seilinger cycle, which combine aspects of the Otto and Diesel cycles, may not be well known or may just be theoretical in nature. Textbooks usually cover what will be encountered most often in practice; if you want to explore other, more obscure topics, you have to hunt up specialist texts or papers.

Rest assured, however, that internal combustion engine thermodynamics use the same theory and principles encountered in other situations, like the Rankine cycle, for instance.

especially I need example questions,solved examples to make practice. Is search for engine lecture notes a good attempt?

Sure it is. Keep in mind that the text I referred to has countless examples in it. It has worked examples and many (hundreds) of end-of-chapter problems with answers to check.

Good luck :smile:

And yes, IMO = In My Opinion

did you examined other famous books such as thermodynamics an engineering approach of çengel and boles and fundamental of engineering thermodynamics of borgnakke..I examined introduction to engineering thermodynamics,second edition, of borgnakke.when i can't find in it I thought other don't have.
