What they are doing with [rubber!] cymbals just amaze me! In the following video, they talk about muting the sound just by touching the cymbal with your fingers! It simply uses the static electricity as a signal.Hornbein said:Electronic drums are starting to sound as good as the real thing.
I have played a few and my biggest complaint is that they look, feel and sound crap.Hornbein said:Covering Van Halen's Dreams. I usually don't go for highly accurate covers but this is flabbergasting. A one-man van Halen! I would have thought it a very remote possibility.
Electronic drums are starting to sound as good as the real thing. Easier to carry around, easier to record, easier to control the volume live, and the neighbors less likely to call the cops. Are they cheaper? Real drums appear to be on the way out.

Mm...Hornbein said:At local clubs here in Bali three out of three drummers were using electronic drums. Cajon or a suitcase-like thing played with sticks.

These guys don't use them, I've listened to a few now and I think they are great.

When I finished the solo to this one, Mustaine came into the studio, listened to it down once, turned around and without saying a word, shook my hand. It was at that moment that I felt like I was truly the guitarist for this band.

I always thought George recorded this double track as it is so hard to play.Hornbein said:I believe this is the origin of the double guitar thing, later picked up by Thin Lizzy.

Hornbein said:While touring Marty Friedman needed something to do other than drugs, so he took courses in Japanese. He then moved there long ago. He has his own tv show.
“It was a thrill and an honor to be asked by the Japanese government to compose this music,” he said in a statement. “It will be played and performed at official events and functions from now on. As a foreigner living in Tokyo, I`ll always appreciate the gracious treatment I’ve received here and welcome this kind of responsibility in the future.”

Other songs on 1984 included "Girl Gone Bad", parts of which previously had been played during the 1982 tour amidst performances of "Somebody Get Me a Doctor" (including the US Festival show)...
Eddie Van Halen told an interviewer that "Girl Gone Bad" was written in a hotel room that he and then-wife Valerie Bertinelli had rented. Bertinelli was asleep, and Van Halen woke up during the night with an idea he had to put on tape. Not wanting to wake Bertinelli, Van Halen grabbed a cassette recorder and recorded himself playing guitar in the closet.
