What is Wireless power transfer: Definition and 13 Discussions
Wireless power transfer (WPT), wireless power transmission, wireless energy transmission (WET), or electromagnetic power transfer is the transmission of electrical energy without wires as a physical link. In a wireless power transmission system, a transmitter device, driven by electric power from a power source, generates a time-varying electromagnetic field, which transmits power across space to a receiver device, which extracts power from the field and supplies it to an electrical load. The technology of wireless power transmission can eliminate the use of the wires and batteries, thus increasing the mobility, convenience, and safety of an electronic device for all users. Wireless power transfer is useful to power electrical devices where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or are not possible.
Wireless power techniques mainly fall into two categories, near field and far-field. In near field or non-radiative techniques, power is transferred over short distances by magnetic fields using inductive coupling between coils of wire, or by electric fields using capacitive coupling between metal electrodes. Inductive coupling is the most widely used wireless technology; its applications include charging handheld devices like phones and electric toothbrushes, RFID tags, induction cooking, and wirelessly charging or continuous wireless power transfer in implantable medical devices like artificial cardiac pacemakers, or electric vehicles. In far-field or radiative techniques, also called power beaming, power is transferred by beams of electromagnetic radiation, like microwaves or laser beams. These techniques can transport energy longer distances but must be aimed at the receiver. Proposed applications for this type are solar power satellites, and wireless powered drone aircraft. An important issue associated with all wireless power systems is limiting the exposure of people and other living beings to potentially injurious electromagnetic fields.

I couldn't find the working of this circuit so I guess it would be like:
Initially transistor is OFF, so the current flows through Base, and...
I have these two very large (ferrous core) coils,
They are basically identical, each 200mm long and have a diameter of 100mm. The core is medium grade steel
One coil is receiving an input of 8V(peak-to-peak) @ 4 MHz from the function generator. The second coil is placed 1m away, and is...

Hi guys,
I have the following transmitted power signal:
$$x(t)=\alpha_m \ cos[2\pi(f_c+f_m)t+\phi_m],$$
where: ##\alpha_m=constant, \ \ f_c,f_m: frequencies, \ \ \theta_m: initial \ phase.##
The multipath channel is:
$$h(t)=\sum_{l=1}^L \sqrt{g_l} \ \delta(t-\tau_l).$$...
i am planning to do a small diy wireless power transfer device.
The circuit of the transmitter is
receiver has just the coil and load arrangement.
my query is, (please correct me if am wrong)
-->to induce a voltage in the secondary coil, there must be a varying magnetic field right?
-->but...
Hello ,
I am doing my M.Sc in wireless power transfer using resonant inductive coupling.I want to know what topics i should read and understand to master this research.
Dear All,
i am new to Maxwell 3D software. i want to simulate my Wireless Power transmission Project in Maxwell, for this purpose i took help from different toturials whic abled me to draw the Tx and RX coils...i want to simulate these coils to calculate the values of L, M, K and etc. but i am...
Hello,
I am a student doing a research at university.I am working on wireless electricity transfer.I have two coils forming transmitter and Receiver. My coils are with diameter 17 cm. I have reached 53% efficiency in 15cm.And It is not increasing anyhow whatever I do. I want to ask where other...
If a conductor carrying current has magnetic flux around it,why not a carrier wave that carries current in case of wireless power transfer has a magnetic flux around it?
I have been working on the wireless energy transfer recently. Therefore, I am having low efficiency.I have set several coils with different parameters.Could anybody suggest any method to increase the efficiency?I want to transmit high voltage with high efficiency about 50-70W. I have tried with...
From what I learned, for an electric current to be induced in a wire, there must be a magnetic flux. On youtube, there are lots of videos showing wireless power transfer to a lightbulb or LED. However, the light is constant. How is the magnetic flux changing in such a setup?
Hi eveyone. I really need your help for this project that I will be undertaking soon. But there is much I still don't understand and my lecturers aren't around to help.
The setup that I'm envisioning is like this-- Source(230V 50hz) connects to signal generator, signal generator to 1st RLC...
Hi all
i'm trying to build a circuit which can transfer power from one inductor to another inductor unfortunately its not working as i expected.
basically what i did was to make 2 inductors of 1000 turns (copper) on a plastic core.i connected one of the inductor to an ac power source...
