Hello, I was given the attached 3 degree of freedom spring system with the purpose of analyzing it.
I came up with the following equation of motion
and then I ran Matlab to calculate the corresponding natural frequencies and mode shapes using eigenvalues and eigenvectors; I was asked to...
Sorry, it's my second day with complex numbers.
2abi=4i
a=sqrt(3+b^2)
therefore:
2bi*sqrt(3+b^2)=4i
-4bi*(3+b^2)=-16
-12b^2-4b^4=-16
dividing by -4
b^4+3b^2=4
common factor b^2
b^2(b^2+3)=4
right?
Homework Statement
Hi,
I have to solve this exercise:
"Given that (a+bi)^2 = 3+4i obrain a pair of simultaneous equations involving a and b. Hende find the two square roots of 3+4i. Hence find the two suqre roots of 3+4i."
I don't really know to do do it.
2. The attempt at a solution...
ok, it is:
(1+x)^34 = \sum_{k=1}^34 \begin{pmatrix} 34 \\ k \end{pmatrix} x^k.
To be honest with you, i don't know if what I've done now is correct.
Besides, i don't know why i can't put blablabla to the power of 34 because it shows me to the power of 3 and 4 is...
Ok, so I factored (3+2x-x2) and it gave me -(x-3)(x+1).
But then i don't undersand what you meant by expanding (1+x)n into series form and the rest of what you have written. Could you help me please?

Hi guys, I'm Filip and as a 11th grade student I have a question about one mathematical problem. It says:
If the coefficient of xk in the expansion of
(3+2x-x2 )*(1+x)34 is zero. Find the value of k.
I know it's something related with binomial theorem, but I don't really know how to start.
Thank...
