I Creating a formula for the cost of pollution through time

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. Wasn't sure where to put it. While this is technically homework, I don't think it fits in the homework section In a paper I'm writing, I need to estimate the cost to society of future pollution. Reading relevant academic articles, it seems pretty clear...

I Confusion on the Volumes of Solids of Revolution

I've been trying to figure out why you can't use the average value of a function to determine the volume of a solid of revolution. As an example: Trying to find the volume of a solid of revolution on y=√x from 0 to 1 around the x-axis. The definite integral is 2/3, which divided by one is...

Finding the indefinite integral of sin^2(pi*x) cos^5(pi*x)

Homework Statement ∫(sin2(πx)*cos5(πx))dx. Homework Equations Just the above. The Attempt at a Solution I have no idea how pi effects the answer, so I basically solved ∫(sin2(x)^cos5(x))dx. ∫(sin2(x)*cos4(x)*cos(x))dx ∫sin2(x)*(1-sin2(x))2*cos(x))dx U-substitution u = sin x du =...

Can Technical Analysis Guarantee Profitable Trading?

It seems to me that I've come up with a way to almost guarantee that one is a profitable trader. Obviously I'm assuming there is some flaw or it would be widely known as its not that complicated. Imagine thahe only knowledge you can ascertain about publicly-traded, liquid asset with constant...

Effects of Social Situations on Neurotransmitters and Hormones

Thank you everybody that has helped me with this question, especially diracpool for that very long and informative answer. None of the links that were posted were in fact what I was searching for, which I was I asked if anyone knew of any information. I did not ask for anybody to search google...

Effects of Social Situations on Neurotransmitters and Hormones

I've been trying not to say anything since I saw this. But this is, frankly, rude IMO. You could have just asked if I had looked it up (which I agree would have been stupid and lazy if I hadn't) instead of actually spending the time to make this link just to be insulting. Come on now...

Effects of Social Situations on Neurotransmitters and Hormones

Alright thanks. Ya, I was trying to ask if there are any studies out on how social interactions change the level of different neurotransmitters. This is for research for a theory I have that they do appear to regulate among people as they come together in a group (because of how they seem to act...

    Precalculus question using trigonometric equations

Thanks, I got 22.5 and 67.5 which seems to be right. I just really don't understand how sin sqrt(2)/2 equals both 67.5 and 22.5 degrees. They are not the same on the unit circle. What about 112.5 and 157.5 degrees. And different rules seem to apply for tan and cos. For Sine, does just the...

    Precalculus question using trigonometric equations

Actually how do I know how many solutions are in sin 2x= sqrt(2)/2? I found x=22.5, but I don't have 22.5 degrees on the unit circle

    Precalculus question using trigonometric equations

Never mind, I just got it. x= 30, 210 degrees.

    Precalculus question using trigonometric equations

I was just making sure that that was in fact radians that I could convert to degrees. So I got x = 210, 330 degrees which is the same as the radian answers I saw above and work in the formula. Thanks for the help! But I have another problem now... there is an equation (-1)+tan(3x/2)=0 I did...

Effects of Social Situations on Neurotransmitters and Hormones

Does anybody know of any studies that effect how society regulates neurotransmitters and/or hormones in the body; especially long term. Specifically any studies about how they (especially neurotransmitters) regulate in social groups. Its a theory I have and I'd like to see if there is anything...

    Precalculus question using trigonometric equations

Alright. But I need the answer in degrees. So, I would just convert radians to degrees up there? And I only understand how to come up with one of those two answers still (plug sin^-1(1/2) into a calculator; which gives degrees).
