Working out how many ducks there are

Homework Statement so my local supermarket is doing a competition were you guess the amount of ducks in this trolley . [/B] Its summer here in Ireland I have no college so I am pretty bored and said i would have a go at solving this with maths , but because its summer time it also means I am...

Could Solar Wind and CMEs be Causing Magnetic Storms on Comet Catalina?

Just having a think about comets this morning . Im guessing the tails associated with comets are fragments of rock and ice from the surface of the comets but what is causing them to come off the surface if the comet is traveling through no medium to cause a force to move the bits that a make...

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

Oh perfect i actually over looked that! thaks again for your help!

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

Ah so the work done is the same as the KE ! I know the work done is 576J so that's the same as the KE! thanks for your help :)

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

If I am totally honest I am not sure what KEf and KEo stand for .

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

Yes but I am not sure i totally understand what to do when with the formula we have

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

ummm well the force by the distance will give me the work done 32 x 18 = 576J Im almost sure there is a relationship between work and KE but i can't work out what ?:)

How Do You Calculate the Net Force on an Accelerating Car?

Great! thanks lads! this site rocks! need to find a similar one for chemistry and biology haha

Object is accelerated from rest , find KE

Homework Statement An object is accelerated from rest by a force of 32 N over a distance of 18 m. Calculate the kinetic energy of the object after 18 m Homework Equations KE = 0.5 • m • v^2[/B] The Attempt at a Solution I can't work out where ill be able to get the mass or the velocity...

How Do You Calculate the Net Force on an Accelerating Car?

Homework Statement An 850 kg car accelerates uniformly from rest to 33 m/s in a distance of 120 m. What is the magnitude of the net force acting on the car? Homework Equations F = ma dynamic equations The Attempt at a Solution So i think i have this one sorted but just posting to see iv...

Work done by the tension on a cable

    Sorry i think i get it now the weight is the mass times gravity 1250 x 9.81 =12262.5 12262.5 x 8 = 98100 J .

Work done by the tension on a cable

So its just the weight by the distance seing as the acceleration is zero? 1250 x 8 = 10000 J ?

Work done by the tension on a cable

Im pretty confused now lol but I'm going to say its gravitational force bearing down ?
  14. D

Work done by the tension on a cable

force? and that would be the mass x the acceleration but what do i say the acceleration is seeing as I am told its constant?
  15. D

Work done by the tension on a cable

work is when a force moves its point of application through a distance . isnt that the same as W = Fs?
