Ok I got it, thanks a lot. I was using the wrong distance for q1q4

    Electric Potential Difference and charges

Here's the problem I am having trouble with, even though i think it should be simple... Four identical charges (+3.5uC each) are brought from infinity and fixed to a straight line. The charges are located .35m apart. Determine the electric potential energy of the group. So I've tried...

Answer: Intensity Outside a 43.5 dB Quieter Room

A recording engineer works in a soundproofed room that is 43.5 dB quieter than the outside. If the sound intensity in the room is 1.00 10-10 W/m2, what is the intensity outside? Here is how I THINK I should be solving this problem. Intensity level = 10dB * log ( I / Io) Intensity...

The moment of inertia of the stool with respect to an axis at its center?

Oh whoops, I didn't mean to put that the mass was not known. So it's been a couple of days and I am still stumped on why the length would not matter. Is this close to the right track? (1/2*M*R^2)+(1/3m)+(1/3m)+(1/3m) = I M= mass of stool top m = mass of one leg

The moment of inertia of the stool with respect to an axis at its center?

Hi! I am working on this problem: A solid circular disk has a mass of 1.2 kg and a radius of 0.17 m. Each of three identical thin rods has a mass of 0.16 kg. The rods are attached perpendicularly to the plane of the disk at its outer edge to form a three-legged stool. Find the moment of...

What is the maximum speed of water flow in the intake pipe?

    Ok am I on the right track with this? : 1.013 x 10^5 Pa = (1.013E5Pa + (1000 kg/m3*9.8m/s2*11.5m)) + .5(1000 kg/m3)* v^2 + (1000 kg/m3 *9.8m/s2 *11.5m) Im trying to plug in what I know with Bernoulli's...

Been working on this for hours

WOW, thanks for that. Let's just say I want a couple hours of my life back. The program is not suppose to be set up to worry about sig figs. But apparently my professor changed that option? **annoyed** thanks for the advice though everyone.

Sirus, did you use my original equation with Voutside - Vcavity or Voutside + Vcavity ??

What is the maximum speed of water flow in the intake pipe?

    Ok so this is what I have: (P1) + ((1/2)density*v1^2) + (density*g*h1) = (P2) + ((1/2)density*v2^2) + (density*g*h2) So for this question I can ignore the left side of this longer version of Bernoulli's? Do I substitute in a value of 1 or 0 so that I can solve for v ?

Been working on this for hours

Im getting a negative number if I do M / (Voutside + Vsphere) ... and the value I get (using a density for concrete of 2200) is .12m And the computer program is telling me that is wrong. I feel like I am missing something??

Been working on this for hours

Been working on this for hours! Ive honestly given this problem 3 or more hours to no avail. "An irregularly shaped chunk of concrete has a hollow spherical cavity inside. The mass of the chunk is 38 kg, and the volume enclosed by the outside surface of the chunk is 0.025 m3. What is the...

What is the maximum speed of water flow in the intake pipe?

A pump and its horizontal intake pipe are located 11.5 m beneath the surface of a reservoir. The speed of the water in the intake pipe causes the pressure there to decrease, in accord with Bernoulli's principle. Assuming nonviscous flow, what is the maximum speed with which water can flow...
