Which US universities do I stand a chance to pursue a PhD?

In summary, pursuing a PhD in the United States is a highly competitive process and acceptance into a program is not guaranteed. However, some universities that are known for their strong PhD programs include Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and University of California, Berkeley. It is important to thoroughly research and carefully select potential programs that align with your research interests and academic goals to increase your chances of being accepted. Additionally, having a strong academic record, relevant research experience, and compelling letters of recommendation can also improve your chances of being accepted into a PhD program at these top universities.

Hi

I am originally from India and finished my BEng (Hons) Electronic Systems Engineering at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. My degree average was 60% , 2:1 (Upper second). My final year project was on mm-wave waveguides.

Currently, I am on way to finish my MSc Engineering (by research) at the same university. My research concentration is in Photonics with focus on slow-light applications of photonic crystals.

Could someone please advise, which US universities do I stand a chance to pursue a PhD in photonics/electromagnetics?

Thank you
