Note: This product was formerly known as "Username Change Alert."

    Overview:

This product is designed to allow you to allow your users to change their own usernames, and to generate reports when their usernames are changed.

You can designate users by usergroup, and by userid, who are allowed to change their own username, and you can designate users by username that cannot change their own username, even if they belong to one of the allowed usergroups. You may set the period of time in days that must elapse between username changes, and the minimum time in days a user must have been a member before being allowed to change their own username. You may also set a maximum number of times in total, that a user can change their own username. If you do, then users are advised of how many changes they have left. Users are also advised if they would otherwise have permission to change their username when they can next change their name, when they will have been a member long enough, and when they have no more changes left.

You may decide to have a report posted to a thread when a username is changed. You are able to designate a forum in which a thread is created and posted to in order to serve as a log of changed usernames. You set the title of the thread and the format of the posts within the thread via phrases. You may decide to have everyone in a user's friends list contacted by PM to notify them of the username change, where the title and format of the PM is set with phrases.

You may also elect to show username histories on user profiles.

    Updates:

    Version 1.1:

    • Added setting to allow members of selected usergroups to change their own usernames.

    Version 1.2:

    • Added new username verification.

    Version 2.0:

    • Product name changed from "Username Change Alert" to "Username Changes."
    • New usernames escaped before saved to database.
    • Bugs fixed pertaining to alert thread.
    • Added setting to set minimum number of elapsed days between users changing their own usernames.
    • Added setting to allow for the display of a user's username change history on user profiles.
    • Added setting to allow users the change their username by userid.
    • Added setting to deny users permission to change their username by username.
    • Added setting to require a user to be a member for some minimum number of days before being allowed to change their username.
    • Added setting to designate the maximum number of times a user can change their username.
    • Added setting to allow PMs to be sent to everyone in a user's friends list when their username has been changed.

    Compatibility:

Tested and working on vB 4.2.x and may work on all 4.x.x versions of vBulletin.

    Backup/Warning:

This product does not alter your database, however it is always good practice to make regular backups and you should make a backup before installing ANY new mod.
