Pressure points are the soft connective tissues in the joints and the tendons and ligaments. In summary, bony prominences are bumps on bones that serve as attachment points for muscles and pressure points are the soft tissues in joints, tendons, and ligaments.

I expect that "bony prominances" refer to parts of the body where the bones are overlayed by skin, e.g., ankles, knee cap, elbow (ends of radius and ulna toward humerus), the end of the ulna (forearm) adjacent to the scaphoid (navicular) bone, and perhaps the chin. The nose might also be considered a bony protrusion, or perhaps the bony part behind the cartilage.

Pressure points would be the soft connective tissue in the joints, and the tendons and ligaments.

A bony prominence is any sort of bump on a bone. They are usually sites of attachment of muscles, tendons or ligaments onto the bone.

Related to What is the meaning of bony prominances?

1. What are bony prominences?

Bony prominences are areas of the body where bones are located close to the skin's surface. These areas often have very little fat or muscle tissue covering them, making the bones more easily visible and palpable.

2. Why do bony prominences occur?

Bony prominences occur due to the natural shape and structure of our bones. Some bones, such as the hip bones, are naturally more prominent and closer to the skin's surface, while others may become more prominent due to factors such as weight loss or muscle atrophy.

3. Are bony prominences normal?

Yes, bony prominences are a normal part of our anatomy. They serve important functions, such as protecting our internal organs and providing attachment points for muscles and tendons.

4. Can bony prominences cause health issues?

In some cases, bony prominences can cause discomfort or pain if they are constantly under pressure or friction, such as when sitting or wearing tight clothing. They can also be more prone to injuries, such as bruises or pressure sores. However, these issues can usually be prevented or managed with proper positioning and padding.

5. How can bony prominences be managed or treated?

To prevent discomfort or injuries from bony prominences, it is important to maintain a healthy weight, engage in regular physical activity to strengthen muscles, and use proper padding or positioning when sitting or lying down. In some cases, medical interventions such as surgery or injections may be necessary to address severe or chronic issues related to bony prominences.
