What historical artifacts can be seen at Pearl Harbour in August 2018?

In summary: The USS Missouri was one of the last ships to surrender to the Japanese. The surrender took place on the ship's deck, and the signing of the surrender document was carried out by General Douglas MacArthur. The USS Missouri is now a museum ship and is open to the public.

The USS Arizona Memorial
Currently closed because of damage to the docking facilities
But they take you on a boat ride to see the memorial and the USS Missouri

For those that don't know, The surrender of the Japanese took place on the Missouri whilst it was in Tokyo Bay.
Below is a photo that is on a wall by the place where the "Instrument of Surrender" was signed.
With this, the war in the Pacific ended

If you ever get the chance to go to Hawai'i, a Pear Harbour tour is a must !

yeah I do :frown:

looks like the eye will pass several 100 miles to the sth of Hawai'i but looking like some heavy rain on the way for the "Big Island"

which is where we fly to this afternoon (Tuesday)Dave

I've been there on my free time during conference but I never got to see the Mighty Mo. Very nice pictures!

I think teak is typical for decks on ships like that.

I toured her in Philly maybe 25 years ago when they were preparing to turn her into a museum. The tour guide pointed to a small dent in one of the turrets, about what you might expect to find in your car door after parking at the mall near Christmas, and said it was from a direct hit from a Japanese 8" shell. Now that's armor.
