Hi, I am currently choosing my specialisation modules. May i know what are the most important aspects that an electrical engineer should know with regards to "control systems"? Tks
A control system is a set of devices or components that work together to manage, regulate, or manipulate a process or system. It involves the use of sensors, controllers, and actuators to measure and adjust the output of a system in order to achieve a desired outcome.
The important aspects of control systems include the type of system being controlled, the control strategy used, the type of sensors and actuators used, the feedback loop, and the performance criteria or objectives.
Control systems work by continuously measuring the output of a process or system, comparing it to a desired set point, and then using feedback to adjust the input or output of the system in order to achieve the desired outcome.
The different types of control systems include open-loop, closed-loop, and feedback control systems. Open-loop systems do not have a feedback loop and rely solely on the input to control the output. Closed-loop systems have a feedback loop and continuously adjust the output based on the input. Feedback control systems use sensors to measure the output and provide feedback to the controller to adjust the input.
Control systems have a wide range of applications, including industrial processes, manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, and automotive systems. They are also used in household appliances, medical devices, and environmental control systems.
