Find the first five terms of sequence

In summary, a sequence is a list of numbers that follow a specific pattern or rule. The first term of a sequence is the number at the beginning of the list. To find the first five terms of a sequence, you can either follow the given pattern or rule, or plug in the numbers 1-5 into the defining formula or function. It is important to find the first five terms of a sequence because it helps understand the pattern or rule and make predictions about future terms. Any sequence with a clear pattern or rule can have its first five terms found, but more complex sequences may require more terms for full understanding.

How can we find the first five terms of sequence given below?

a1=7; an=an-1 – 4, n>=2

By pluggin in numbers...

a_1 = 7

a_n = a_(n - 1) - 4, n >= 2 (you really need to use parantheses here).

To find a_2, let n = 2. Then we have:

a_2 = a_(2 - 1) - 4 = a_1 - 4 = 7 - 4 = 3.

You use the same technique to find the rest of the numbers.

Yeah, I guess that works too. ;)

What is a sequence?

A sequence is a list of numbers that follow a specific pattern or rule.

What is the first term of a sequence?

The first term of a sequence is the number at the beginning of the list.

How do I find the first five terms of a sequence?

To find the first five terms of a sequence, you can either follow the given pattern or rule, or you can plug in the numbers 1-5 into the formula or function that defines the sequence.

Why is it important to find the first five terms of a sequence?

Finding the first five terms of a sequence can help you understand the pattern or rule that defines the sequence, and can also help you make predictions about future terms in the sequence.

Can I find the first five terms of any sequence?

Yes, as long as the sequence follows a clear pattern or rule, you can find the first five terms. However, some sequences may have more complex patterns or rules that require more terms to fully understand.
