Statically Indeterminte sort into groups

In summary, the given loading conditions for a cylindrical beam at point B require different types of supports at point A. These include fixed support, single journal bearing, single thrust bearing, ball and socket joint, roller, single smooth pin, and cable support. The types of supports that would improperly constrain the beam, constrain the beam and make it statically determinate, and constrain the beam and make it statically indeterminate are the roller and single smooth pin, ball and socket joint, and single thrust bearing, respectively.

Homework Statement

A cable supports a cylindrical beam at point B. For the given loading conditions, what type of supports, applied at point A, would improperly constrain the beam, would constrain the beam and make the beam statically determinate, and would constrain the beam and make the beam statically indeterminate?

Would the following be:
A. Improper Constraints B. Constrained and Statically Determinate or C. Constrained and Statically Indeterminate

With the following types of support:
1. Fixed support
2. Single journal bearing resting on xy plane
3. Single thrust bearing resting on xy plane
4. Ball and Socket joint connected to the xz plane
5. Roller resting on the xy plane
6. Single smooth pin resting on the xy plane
7. Cable with yz components

Homework Equations

1. Fixed support has 6 unknown: Fx,y,z and Mx,y,z. The reactions are 3 forces and 3 couple moment components.
2. Single journal has 4 unknowns. The reactions are 2 forces and 2 couple moments which act perpendicular to the shaft.
3. Single thrust has 5 unknowns. The reactions are 3 forces and 2 couple moments.
4. Ball and Socket has 3 unknowns and the 3 rectangular force components.
5. Roller has 1 unknown. The reaction is a force which acts perpendicular to the surface at the point of contact.
6. Single smooth pin has 5 unknowns. The reactions are 3 force and 3 couple moments.
7. Cable has 1 unknown. The reaction is a force which acts away from the member in the known direction of the cable.

The Attempt at a Solution

I thought the smooth support and the roller where improper constraints because the forces where parallel.

I'm stuck with too much information I can't sort out. Please help.

Related to Statically Indeterminte sort into groups

1. What is the definition of "Statically Indeterminte sort into groups"?

"Statically Indeterminte sort into groups" is a method used to categorize data or objects into groups based on certain criteria. It is called "statically indeterminate" because the groups are not predetermined and can change depending on the data being analyzed.

2. How is "Statically Indeterminte sort into groups" different from other sorting methods?

This method differs from other sorting methods in that it does not have a fixed number of groups to sort data into. Instead, the number of groups can vary and is determined by the data itself.

3. What are the benefits of using "Statically Indeterminte sort into groups"?

The main benefit of using this method is that it allows for a more flexible and adaptable way of organizing data. It can also reveal patterns and relationships within the data that may not have been apparent with traditional sorting methods.

4. What are some real-world applications of "Statically Indeterminte sort into groups"?

This method is commonly used in data analysis, market research, and customer segmentation. It can also be applied in fields such as biology, sociology, and psychology to group and analyze data sets.

5. What are the potential limitations of "Statically Indeterminte sort into groups"?

One limitation of this method is that it may not always produce clear and distinct groups, especially with large and complex data sets. It also heavily relies on the chosen criteria for grouping, which can potentially skew the results. Additionally, it may not be suitable for all types of data or research questions.
