These i have tried to complete .someone please chech and correct them for me lease and thanks. can u give me steps when dealing with each one.like what i should do to attem these a)|-3-2|
=|-5|
=5

b)|-5|-|2|
=-(-5)-2

c)|7|+|-4|
=7+(-4)-7-4=3

d)|-11+1|
|-10|
=10

e)|6|-|-3|
=6-(-3)
6-3=3

f)|8|+|-9|
8+(-9)=8-9
=-1

g)(-5)|3-6|h)|-6| |(-2)
6/2
=3

i)|-7|+|14|
|7|+|4|
=7+4=11

CORRECT

b)|-5|-|2|
=-(-5)-2

|-5|=5 and |2|=2 so |-5|-|2|=5-2=3

c)|7|+|-4|
=7+(-4)-7-4=3

|7|=7 and |-4|=4 so |7|+|-4|=7+4=11

d)|-11+1|
|-10|
=10

CORRECT

e)|6|-|-3|
=6-(-3) (not correct, should be just 6-3 since |-3|=3 )
6-3=3 <-- CORRECT final answer

f)|8|+|-9| ( |8| = 8 and |-9| = 9 so |8|+|-9|=8+9=17 )
8+(-9)=8-9
=-1

g)(-5)|3-6|

|3-6|=|-3|=3 so what is the final answer from here?

Hi CSmith (Wave),

Welcome to MHB. I've quoted part of your post and left my comments. I hope that you'll be able to finish some others on your own with my help. If something is unclear please let me know and I'll try to explain it.

Almost. You are correct that you get (-5)|3| but you don't need to add, you should multiply. When two numbers are written next to each other like that without any plus, minus, etc. then it's assumed you are meant to multiply. So for this one I get 15 as a final answer.

Keep working at them and don't be shy about posting back when you have made some progress. We want to help you learn how to do them for yourself so you can pass your math class! ;)

Ooops! I forgot about the minus sign. You're absolutely right, it is -15. :) Everyone makes mistakes.

How do you find the absolute value of a number?

To find the absolute value of a number, you ignore the positive or negative sign and simply take the number's value. For example, the absolute value of -5 would be 5.

What is the symbol for absolute value?

The symbol for absolute value is two vertical bars surrounding the number, like |x|.

Can absolute value be negative?

No, absolute value is always a positive value because it represents the distance from zero on the number line.

What is the difference between absolute value and modulus?

Absolute value and modulus are often used interchangeably, but they have slightly different definitions. Absolute value represents the distance of a number from zero, while modulus represents the remainder after dividing a number by another number.
