I was writing a code for a problem and I spent around an hour on it (thinking I am really solving it ) then discovering that was just a waste of time because I am not thinking right (Headbang). I need to go to sleep (Yawn).

(Nod) I'm always doing that. I get to the point where I'm too stupid to know that I need to go to bed!

This happened to me recently, it was late at night and I was trying to come up with some algorithm to solve a problem and failing, I did not understand why, everything checked out..

Turns out the problem I was trying to solve had, in fact, no solution, and provably so. I didn't feel so smart afterwards.. it's sad because I should have realized that instantly

Three hours of my life I'll never get back /sigh

I understand the importance of efficient problem-solving. It is essential to approach problems with a clear and focused mind in order to find effective solutions. It is clear from your experience that attempting to solve a problem while feeling tired can lead to wasted time and ineffective thinking.

Research has shown that sleep is crucial for cognitive function, including problem-solving. When we are sleep-deprived, our brain's ability to process information and think critically is impaired. This can lead to errors and inefficient problem-solving.

I would recommend taking a break and getting a good night's sleep before attempting to solve the problem again. This will allow your brain to rest and recharge, improving your cognitive abilities and increasing your chances of finding an efficient solution.

Additionally, it is important to practice good sleep hygiene habits, such as avoiding screens before bed and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule. This will help ensure that you are well-rested and able to approach problems with a clear and focused mind.

In conclusion, efficient problem-solving requires a well-rested mind. By prioritizing sleep and practicing good sleep habits, you can improve your cognitive abilities and increase your chances of finding effective solutions to complex problems.
