Would it be possible to disable smilies automatically in LaTeX formulas? At present, a formula like $\$$f(d) = d(f)$\$$ gets compiled as $f$(d)${} =d$(f) unless you take care to check the "disable smilies" button.

Spaces before ")" solves that problem since LaTeX ignores spaces, but smilies do not.

\( f(d ) = d(f ) \)
