Did snakes once crawl on legs before the curse?

In summary, in the Bible, God cursed the snake for deceiving Eve and causing the fall of mankind. As part of the curse, the snake was forced to crawl on its belly and eat dust for the rest of its life. This is supported by scientific evidence that suggests snakes evolved from legged lizards. However, the concept of being cursed and eating dust may not be scientifically accurate.

Gen 3:14 And the Lord God said to the snake, Because you have done this you are cursed more than all cattle and every beast of the field; you will go flat on the earth, and dust will be your food all the days of your life:

Before the curse, did snake crawl on the Earth as now? Could snake have legs before that? And its legs were taken away after the curse?

Did it say Serpent, or Snake?

Actually, this is one part of the bible that isn't so bad, scientifically speaking. It is vey likely that snakes evolved from some legged lizard - as shown by studies of snake bone structure, and the discovery of some snakes/lizards with degenerated limbs.

Not quite so sure about the "cursed" and "eat dust" bit though...

1. What does "Snake once never crawled" mean?

"Snake once never crawled" is a phrase that means something has never happened before or is impossible. It is often used to describe a highly unlikely or unusual situation.

2. Is it scientifically possible for a snake to never crawl?

No, it is not. All snakes are capable of crawling, as it is a natural form of movement for them. However, some snake species may move in other ways, such as burrowing or swimming, but they are still considered to be crawling.

3. Can snakes become unable to crawl due to injury or illness?

Yes, snakes can become temporarily or permanently unable to crawl due to injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. However, it is not natural for a snake to never crawl at all.

4. Are there any documented cases of a snake never crawling?

No, there are no documented cases of a snake never crawling. As mentioned earlier, all snakes are capable of crawling, even if they may not do so in certain situations or environments.

5. What are some possible reasons for a snake to not crawl?

Some possible reasons for a snake to not crawl could include physical disabilities, injuries, illness, or environmental factors such as extreme temperatures or lack of suitable surfaces for crawling. However, these situations are usually temporary and the snake will eventually resume crawling once the issue is resolved.
