I was just wondering if there was any proof that the medieval period had more conflicts like wars etc. but with less (peace) negotiation between parties than now?
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much!
Life during the medieval period was characterized by feudalism, a social and political system in which lords owned land and peasants worked the land in exchange for protection and shelter. The majority of people were illiterate and lived in small villages, with the Church playing a dominant role in daily life.
Some major events that occurred during the medieval period include the rise and spread of Christianity, the Crusades, the Black Death, and the Hundred Years' War. This time period also saw the emergence of powerful kingdoms and empires, such as the Holy Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire.
The medieval period saw advancements in agriculture, including the use of the heavy plow and the three-field system, which increased food production and allowed for population growth. There were also developments in architecture, such as Gothic cathedrals, and advancements in medicine, such as the use of herbal remedies and the creation of hospitals.
The major social classes during the medieval period were the nobility, clergy, and peasants. The nobility were the wealthiest and most powerful, followed by the clergy, who were members of the Church. Peasants made up the majority of the population and were responsible for farming and other labor.
The medieval period ended with the Renaissance, a period of cultural and intellectual rebirth that began in Italy in the 14th century. This marked a shift away from the feudal system and towards a more modern society, with advancements in art, literature, and science.
