Good Computer Program for Chemical Structures & Equations

In summary, a good computer program for chemical structures and equations should have the ability to accurately and efficiently create and manipulate chemical structures, as well as solve and balance chemical equations. It should also have a user-friendly interface and extensive database of chemical compounds and reactions. Some popular programs in this category include ChemDraw, ChemOffice, and ChemSketch. These programs are widely used in the scientific community for research and educational purposes.

anyone know of any good computer programs used to make chemical structures and equations? i know of www.orgsyn.org but it's really a pain in the ass to use.

EDIT: fixed the link, there was a comma in the way

I haven't heard of such program. But I just wanted to say that the link didn't work...or do the mentors have to check it first?

You might see if any of this stuff is suitable;

chemical reagent calculator:

Shareware ($25)

cambridgesoft chemoffice ultra:
http://products.cambridgesoft.com/family.cfm?FID=1

Various versions from 2-week limited free trial to around $3000 US.

[edit]
I'll just keep throwing in stuff I find which may or may not be of any use.

Atoms, Bonding and Structure v2.0

Check this one out;

Freeware;

Ok, here's a last one;

thanks! "chem sketch" should do the job, and it's free!

and i fixed the link astro, if you're even slightly interested in o-chemistry that site is great.

What is a good computer program for chemical structures and equations?

One of the most commonly used programs for chemical structures and equations is ChemDraw. It allows users to draw and manipulate chemical structures, as well as create and balance chemical equations.

How does ChemDraw work?

ChemDraw utilizes a drag-and-drop interface to create chemical structures and equations. Users can also input chemical names or formulas to automatically generate the corresponding structure or equation.

Can ChemDraw handle complex molecules and reactions?

Yes, ChemDraw has a comprehensive database of chemical structures and reactions, making it capable of handling complex molecules and reactions.

Is ChemDraw user-friendly?

Many users find ChemDraw to be user-friendly due to its intuitive interface and helpful tools such as templates and shortcuts. However, some basic knowledge of chemistry may be required to fully utilize the program.

Are there any alternative programs to ChemDraw?

Yes, there are other programs available for chemical structures and equations, such as MarvinSketch, ChemSketch, and ACD/ChemSketch. It is recommended to research and compare different programs to find the one that best suits your needs.
