Please show your love for MHB in limerick form. I will get the ball rolling:

There's a site we all call MHB,
where students can get math help for free.
The admins work hard,
while the staff stays on guard,
and problems are posed by anemone.

My version of this :

There's a forum called Math Help Boards,
where everyone gets math help loads;
The admins are hard-working,
the mods are always lurking
to ban the spammer whenever they see;
and the problems are posed by anemone!

How's that one?

Hmmm...seems more than a bit derivative of mine. (Tongueout)

I am no expert, but I think a limerick needs to follow a certain cadence, or rhythm.

The first line should have 9 syllables, and the second line should also have 9 syllables, and rhyme with the first line.

Now, the third line should have 5 syllables and the fourth line 6 syllables and these two lines should rhyme with each other.

The fifth and final line should have 10 syllables and rhyme with the first and second lines. :D

edit: I did a little research and found there is some leeway in the number of syllables per line, but it should have five lines and follow the rhyming scheme aabba. :D

Yes, you are correct that a limerick has a set form. It's something most people might not be able to explicitly state but they definitely know the rhythm of it when read correctly. It has a very distinct pace and flow.

Well, except that, as others have mentioned, it's not technically a limerick. Limericks have five lines. The basic foot is either anapest or amphibrach, and you have

trimeter (A)
trimeter (A)
dimeter (B)
dimeter (B)
trimeter (A)

Here's my edit of Mark's limerick:

You just gotta have anemone in there, and the problem is that her username doesn't fit well into a limerick. Some metrical license is, of course, fine.

Yes, I realize that (Tongueout) I did some alteration on Mark's and saw that it still stays with the rhythm, so just slipped it through :D

I wouldn't have finished this limerick if my boyfriend didn't help me. So I want to thank him for his patience for listening to all kinds of silly ideas of mine to make it work(Inlove)(heart). So please MHB allows me to post a shout-out to him, to show my appreciation to him!

I find that some problems are lacking,
to me they just are not worth cracking.
So I search high and low,
to help MHB grow,
and to keep all your minds busy racking.

An MHB bard from Japan
Wrote limericks that would not scan.
. . His poems all tend
. . To come to an end
Abruptly.

T'was an MHB guy from Peru
Whose limericks would end at line two.

I'm sorry to say that this little jingle was running through my head when I woke up this morning.

That unscrupulous Mod we call Mark
(Who writes limericks here for a lark)
. . .Gave a permanent ban
. . .Just to show that he can
For his bite is much worse than his bark.

[I hope I'm not the one who gets the permanent ban, for posting such scurrilous nonsense.]

It's brilliant because Mark is so much the opposite of that. Nice one, Opalg!

There's a community called Mathhelpboards,
where math enthusiasts get enrolled,
The site is nice and loading fast,
It's colorful and long to scroll,
Anemone problem of the week is asked,
Banning spammers are a admins goal,
And the members try to reply really fast,
while the moderators move edit and roll,
Members work hard to get a big role,
Math lover's around the world get amassed,
Not often around the forum you see a poll,
and the community here is helpful and vast.
Giving free math help is it's goal,
Posts in the chat can only be liked,
Mathhelpboard's is awesome say we all,

(Tongueout) Correct?

To a tightrope walker named Zekund
The "a" dfue to gravity beckoned.
. . His performance was great
. . At about 9.8
m/sec2.

There was a young lady named List
Whose mouth had a funny half-twist.
. . She'd turned both her lips
. . Into Moebius strips.
'Til she's kissed you, you haven't been kissed.

A young mathematician named Crottle
Poured water into a Klein bottle.
. . When asked, "Do you doubt
. . That some will run out?"
He replied, "No, I don't. Quite a lot'll."

A girl from the vast Fourth Dimension
Has a love life beyond comprehension.
. . With length, width and height
. . She's an utter delight.
With her fourth, it's too wondrous to mention!
