Who Were the Key Figures of the Civil War? A Brief Overview

In summary, the conversation was about a Civil War project and the need for information on Frederick Douglass, Clara Barton, and U.S.S. Carondelet. The responder advised the individual to do their own research and suggested using Google. They also provided some brief information on Frederick Douglass and Clara Barton, but were not familiar with the U.S.S. Carondelet. They directed the person to a history forum for further assistance.

Frederick Douglass was a prominent black abolitionist. In contrast to William Lloyd(?) Garrison, he was not an extremist. He wanted to use politics to gain an advantage, compared to the militaristic tactics of Garrison (that soon got him dragged down the street by the Broadcloth mob).

Clara Barton was a female medic (forgot whether she was on Union or Confederate).

I've never heard of the U.S.S. Carondelet. Sorry.

Humm... I think you got the wrong forum,

Try http://www.historychannel.com/discuss/discuss.html

I wouldn't go there and ask for homework help on a Physcis problem, but certianly would for a history question.
