can some one tell me what tissues and cells the lungs contain, the lungs function and how the lungs have adapted to carry out this function.
please help

The lungs are mainly composed of two types of tissues: epithelial tissue and connective tissue. The epithelial tissue lines the air sacs and the airways, while the connective tissue provides structural support and elasticity to the lungs.
The lungs contain various types of cells that work together to perform their functions. The main cells found in the lungs are alveolar type I and II cells, ciliated cells, goblet cells, and macrophages. Alveolar type I and II cells are responsible for gas exchange, ciliated cells move mucus and debris out of the airways, goblet cells produce mucus to trap foreign particles, and macrophages engulf and remove harmful substances.
The main function of the lungs is to exchange gases between the air and the blood. Oxygen is taken in from the air and transferred to the blood, while carbon dioxide is removed from the blood and released into the air. The lungs also help to regulate the body's pH balance, filter out harmful substances, and produce surfactant to keep the air sacs open.
Smoking can have a detrimental effect on the lungs. The chemicals in cigarettes can damage the air sacs and airways, leading to reduced lung function and increased risk of respiratory infections. Smoking also increases the risk of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases.
The lungs have a limited ability to regenerate and repair themselves. The alveolar type II cells can divide and replace damaged alveolar type I cells, and the lungs can repair small areas of damage. However, chronic exposure to harmful substances, such as smoking, can impair this regenerative process and lead to permanent damage to the lungs.
