In summary, transferring to a 4 year college for an engineering program can be a daunting experience, especially for students who have already completed their general education requirements at a 2 year college. Engineering programs tend to have a heavier course load compared to other majors, with an average of 15-18 credit hours per semester. The number of semesters or years it would take to finish an engineering degree after transferring would depend on various factors and it is important to consult with an academic advisor for a personalized plan. It is also crucial to have a general idea of the engineering field you are interested in before transferring to ensure you are taking the necessary prerequisites. Ultimately, staying organized and seeking help from advisors and professors can lead to a successful transfer and academic

It's weird because you have to move from your current college and everything, and the whole thing is weird!
Whats your opinion about a typical engineering course load when you transfer from a 2 year college and have finished general ed there totally ?
Curious about what to expect, Ok so in your opinion, or maybe from experience, what is a typical engineering course load is like for students at a 4 year college? So that you can know what to expect when planning to transfer? How many classes do you take at once (But this is for a student who has already gotten their general ed out of the way at a 2 year college, so how many more units, or semesters, or years would it take the student to finish at the 4 year college if they've already finished about 160 units at a community college and they are totally done with their general ed and simply want to transfer?) It's about the same for any kind of engineering, probably, so the question is if the person has not decided what type of engineering? But just want to know some things about transferring.

I can understand your concerns about transferring to a new college and the uncertainty surrounding the engineering course load. From my experience, the course load for engineering students at a 4 year college can vary depending on the specific program and the student's individual course plan.

However, in general, engineering programs tend to have a heavier course load compared to other majors due to the technical and mathematical nature of the coursework. This is especially true for students who have already completed their general education requirements at a 2 year college and are transferring to a 4 year college.

Typically, engineering students take around 15-18 credit hours per semester, which is equivalent to 5-6 classes. This may seem like a lot, but keep in mind that engineering courses often have additional lab or project components, which can add to the workload.

For a student who has already completed 160 units at a community college and is transferring to a 4 year college, the number of semesters or years it would take to finish their engineering degree would depend on several factors such as the specific program requirements, transfer credits, and the student's course plan. It is best to consult with an academic advisor at the 4 year college to get a better understanding of the timeline for graduation.

In terms of choosing a specific type of engineering, it is important to have a general idea of the field you are interested in before transferring. This can help you plan your course schedule and ensure that you are taking the necessary prerequisites for your chosen engineering program.

Overall, transferring to a 4 year college for an engineering program may be challenging, but it can also be a rewarding experience. It is important to stay organized, seek help from academic advisors and professors, and stay motivated to reach your academic goals. Best of luck with your transfer and future engineering studies!
