hi PF. i just want to ask if the formula P=Torque(angular velocity) is valid? saw this in wikipedia. if not, any idea how to measure the power exerted to a bicycle? thanks
Input power to a bicycle refers to the amount of energy or force that is required for a person to pedal and move the bicycle forward.
Input power is typically measured in watts (W) and can be calculated by multiplying the force applied to the pedals (in newtons) by the speed at which the pedals are turning (in radians per second).
The input power to a bicycle is affected by several factors, including the rider's weight, the terrain, the type of bicycle, and the condition of the bicycle's components (such as tires and gears).
Input power can be increased by increasing the force applied to the pedals, increasing the speed at which the pedals are turned, or reducing the resistance from factors such as weight and terrain. Improving the efficiency of the bicycle's components, such as using smoother tires or well-lubricated gears, can also increase input power.
Understanding input power is important for designing and optimizing bicycles for different purposes, such as for speed or endurance. It can also help cyclists improve their efficiency and performance by identifying areas for improvement in their pedaling technique or equipment.
