In summary, the conversation is about finding detailed information on the chemical structure and mechanical properties of commercially available materials, specifically ceramic adhesives. The individual is writing a thesis on this topic but is struggling to find relevant literature that discusses "castable refractory adhesives." The classification of ceramic adhesives is unclear and the individual is looking for technical documents on specific products from manufacturers like Aremco's Ceramabonds and Resbond. They express frustration at the lack of information and ask for help in finding resources.

Is there a way to find detailed informations on chemical structure and mechanical properties of commercialy available materials? I am writing a thesis on ceramic adhesives: all literature I've found talks about "castable refractory adhesives" (because of ASTM classifications). However, it is still not very clear to me how ceramic adhesives can be classified. In fact they are refractories, castables, but this doesn't mean that all castable refractories possesses the adhesion requirements for them to being used as adhesives. It would be useful to me to find technical documents on products such as Aremco's Ceramabonds, Resbond etc.
Thank you for any help, I am some kind of desperate about the lack of information.

Why ask here at PF? Ask the manufacturers.

Related to In search for informations about commercial ceramic adhesives

1. What are commercial ceramic adhesives used for?

Commercial ceramic adhesives are used to bond ceramic materials together. They are commonly used in industries such as construction, automotive, aerospace, and electronics for various applications such as tile installation, repairing of ceramic components, and manufacturing of ceramic products.

2. What are the main types of commercial ceramic adhesives?

The main types of commercial ceramic adhesives are epoxy-based, acrylic-based, polyurethane-based, and silicone-based adhesives. Each type has its own unique properties and is suitable for different applications. Epoxy-based adhesives are known for their high strength and durability, while acrylic-based adhesives are more flexible and can be used on a variety of surfaces. Polyurethane-based adhesives are resistant to water and chemicals, and silicone-based adhesives are known for their high temperature resistance.

3. How do I choose the right commercial ceramic adhesive for my project?

The right commercial ceramic adhesive for your project will depend on factors such as the type of ceramic materials being bonded, the application, and the environment the adhesive will be exposed to. It is important to carefully consider these factors and consult with a specialist to determine the best adhesive for your specific project.

4. What are the key factors to consider when using commercial ceramic adhesives?

Some key factors to consider when using commercial ceramic adhesives include surface preparation of the ceramic materials, proper mixing and application of the adhesive, and the recommended curing time and temperature. It is also important to follow all safety precautions and use the adhesive in a well-ventilated area.

5. Are there any safety precautions I should take when using commercial ceramic adhesives?

Yes, it is important to follow all safety precautions when using commercial ceramic adhesives. This includes wearing protective gear such as gloves and goggles, working in a well-ventilated area, and following the manufacturer's instructions for proper handling and disposal of the adhesive. It is also important to be aware of any potential hazards, such as skin or eye irritation, and take necessary precautions to avoid them.
