Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew if there are programs like Perimeter Scholars International for mathematics (rather than largely physics)?
That's a pretty frivolous comparison. There are plenty of one-year taught Master's programs at many institutions. That aspect of both PSI and Part III is completely unremarkable.Typical Masters programs take 2 years with concurrent courses and research spread out over the 2 years similar to undergraduate course taking.
Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is an independent research institute located in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1999 with the goal of advancing our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature through research in theoretical physics and mathematics.
The graduate programs at Perimeter Institute focus on theoretical physics and mathematics, with an emphasis on foundational and interdisciplinary research. Students have the opportunity to work with world-renowned faculty and participate in cutting-edge research projects.
The graduate programs at Perimeter Institute typically last for 2-3 years, depending on the specific program and the student's progress. These programs are intensive and require a full-time commitment from the students.
The admission requirements for graduate programs at Perimeter Institute include a strong undergraduate background in physics, mathematics, or a related field, as well as strong letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose. Applicants are also required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have a minimum score of 85% on the Physics GRE subject test.
Yes, Perimeter Institute offers financial support for graduate students through scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships. These opportunities are competitive and are awarded based on academic merit. Additionally, students may also have the opportunity to work as teaching or research assistants to further support their studies.
