Hello all,

Im officially doing one of my last subjects in my degree (Solid state physics) but i think the subject is going to kill me!

Does anyone know any good websites explaining the basics of K Space, Brillouin Zones Bloch waves, phonons, DOS Etc.

Any help would be much apprieciated

Hello Jade,

I completely understand your struggle with solid state physics. It can be a challenging subject, but it is also a very important and fascinating one. I'm glad to hear that you are seeking outside resources to help with your understanding.

One website that I would recommend is HyperPhysics, specifically their section on Solid State Physics. It covers all the topics you mentioned, including K Space, Brillouin Zones, Bloch waves, phonons, and DOS. It also includes interactive simulations and animations to help visualize these concepts.

Another great resource is the MIT OpenCourseWare website, which offers free online courses from MIT. They have a course specifically on Solid State Physics that includes lecture notes, problem sets, and exams.

In addition, I would suggest reaching out to your professor or TA for extra help. They can provide valuable insights and explanations tailored to your specific class and assignments.

I wish you the best of luck in your studies and hope these resources will be helpful to you. Keep persevering and don't be afraid to ask for help when needed. Solid state physics is a complex but rewarding field, and I'm sure you will do great. Best of luck!
