In summary, a gamepad is an input device used for playing video games and can be connected to an ordinary game port found on older computers. However, most modern computers do not have game ports and require a USB gamepad or adapter. Gamepads can be used for a variety of games and may offer advantages in comfort and control. They can also be used with some older game consoles, but an adapter is needed for modern consoles.

gamepad that connects to an ordinary "game port"

I have a gamepad that connects to an ordinary "game port" (audio cards usually have those) on a PC. I want to connect this game pad to my laptop which doesn't have this kind of port.
What can I use to connect my game pad to my laptop?

if it came with a gameport-to-usb connector, then use that, if it did not, it was never mean to use a usb port, and you migyht want to pick up a $8 gamepad for the laptop.

There are a few options you can consider to connect your gamepad to your laptop. One option is to use an adapter that converts the game port to a USB port. This will allow you to plug your gamepad into a USB port on your laptop. Another option is to use a wireless gamepad that connects to your laptop via Bluetooth or a USB receiver. You could also look into purchasing a newer gamepad that is designed to connect directly to a USB port. Whichever option you choose, make sure to check the compatibility of your gamepad with your laptop before making a purchase.
