We are a group of students at the Florida Institute of Technology looking for information on fuel injection systems/manufacturing advice/design advice/any kind of advice that would be imperative to the design of a fuel injection system for a liquid fuel rocket engine. We have funding for a large scale engine but we need aid in the manufacturing of the fuel injection system. We are all Aerospace Engineering students who have the knowledge and skill to work on this project, so there is no need to worry. We have a design but wanted advice from experienced individuals.

Have you approached NASA? They have a number of programs to help university research, particularly as they both have broad experience with liquid fuel injection, and are potential beneficiaries from any advances in the technology.

Hi there,

As a fellow internet forum user, I would like to offer some advice for your project. First of all, it's great that you have funding for a large-scale engine and a team of Aerospace Engineering students with the necessary skills. That's definitely a good start.

In terms of manufacturing the fuel injection system, my advice would be to reach out to experienced professionals in the industry. You can try contacting aerospace companies or even reaching out to individuals on LinkedIn who have experience in designing and manufacturing fuel injection systems. They may be able to offer valuable insights and advice based on their experience.

In addition, I would also recommend doing thorough research on existing fuel injection systems and their designs. This can help you identify any potential challenges or areas for improvement in your design. You can also consider consulting with professors or experts in your university who have knowledge in this area.

Another important aspect to consider is safety. Make sure to thoroughly test and review your design to ensure it meets all safety standards and regulations for liquid fuel rocket engines.

Overall, my advice would be to network and seek guidance from experienced individuals in the industry, do thorough research, and prioritize safety in your design process. Good luck with your project!

Related to Fuel Injection System Help for Florida Tech Aerospace Students

1. What is a fuel injection system?

A fuel injection system is a mechanism used in automobiles and aircrafts to deliver fuel into the engine for combustion. It is responsible for providing the correct amount of fuel and air mixture for efficient and controlled combustion.

2. Why is fuel injection important for aerospace students?

Fuel injection is crucial for aerospace students because it is a vital part of an aircraft's propulsion system. Understanding how fuel injection works is essential for designing and maintaining aircraft engines, which are critical for safe and efficient flight.

3. How does a fuel injection system work?

A fuel injection system works by using a fuel pump to deliver fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel injectors. The injectors then spray the fuel into the combustion chamber in a fine mist, where it is mixed with air and ignited by a spark plug. The amount of fuel injected is controlled by the engine's computer, which takes into account various factors such as engine speed and load.

4. What are the advantages of a fuel injection system over a carburetor?

A fuel injection system has several advantages over a carburetor. It provides more precise control of the fuel-air mixture, resulting in improved engine performance and fuel efficiency. It also eliminates the need for manual adjustments, making it more reliable and low maintenance. Additionally, fuel injection systems are less prone to icing, making them safer for use in aircraft.

5. How can aerospace students troubleshoot fuel injection system problems?

If an issue arises with a fuel injection system, aerospace students should first consult the manufacturer's manual for troubleshooting tips. They can also use diagnostic tools to identify any error codes and pinpoint the problem. It is essential to follow proper maintenance procedures and regularly inspect and clean the fuel injection system to prevent potential problems.
