In summary, the current poverty rate in America is 10.5%, with approximately 34 million Americans living below the poverty line. This rate is higher than many developed countries but lower than some developing countries. The main causes of poverty in America include lack of education, low-paying jobs, and systemic inequalities. Certain demographics, such as racial and ethnic minorities, children, and single-parent households, are disproportionately affected by poverty. To address and reduce poverty, potential strategies include increasing access to education and job training programs, raising the minimum wage, and addressing systemic inequalities. Providing support and resources for those living in poverty, such as affordable housing and healthcare, can also help alleviate the issue.

According to a recent study, 24% of Americans make less than $8.50 an hour. What, in your opinion, are the causes of this?

Why just one cause?

The Poll doesn't allow for "all of the above", so I didn't vote.

A good look at the survey from which the figures came would be helpful (the poll question itself may be misleading).
