Otherwise, your summary and solution seem correct. In summary, if 100 ml of blood in the lung vein contains 14 ml of O2, and the volume of blood in the left ventricle is 70 ml, then the amount of O2 the blood absorbs in the lung for a minute is approximately 68.6 ml.

100 ml blood of lung vein contains 14 ml O2. The volume of blood in the left ventricle is 70 ml. Find the amount of O2 the blood absorbs in the lung for a minute.
Here's what I did
100ml blood -> 14 ml O2

70 ml blood -> x

x=0.98 ml O2

The heart beats 70 times
So 0.98*70=68.6 ml.
Is this solution right?

If you were trying to solve the proportion problem

##\frac{14\, ml\, O_2}{100\, ml\, blood} = \frac{x\, ml\, O_2}{70\, ml\, blood}##

You might want to check your calculation of x again.

Related to Find the amount of O2 the blood absorbs in the lung in a minute

1. How is the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung measured?

The amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung is measured using a technique called pulse oximetry. This involves placing a sensor on a finger or earlobe to measure the oxygen saturation levels in the blood.

2. What factors affect the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung?

The amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung can be affected by various factors such as altitude, lung capacity, and lung diseases. The efficiency of the lungs in extracting O2 from the air can also impact the amount of O2 absorbed.

3. How does the body regulate the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung?

The body regulates the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung through the respiratory system. The lungs will adjust their rate and depth of breathing to maintain a balance between the amount of O2 taken in and the amount of CO2 released.

4. What is the average amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung in a minute?

The average amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung in a minute depends on various factors such as age, health, and physical activity. However, on average, a healthy adult can absorb about 250-350 ml of O2 per minute during rest.

5. How does exercise affect the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung?

During exercise, the body requires more O2 to meet the increased demand for energy. As a result, the amount of O2 absorbed by the blood in the lung increases significantly. This is why we tend to breathe faster and deeper during physical activity.
