In summary, an explosion is a sudden and violent release of energy in the form of heat, light, sound, and pressure. It can be caused by a chemical reaction, nuclear reaction, or physical force. Explosions occur when a large amount of energy is released in a short period of time, and there are several types including chemical, nuclear, and physical explosions. The effects of explosions can range from damage to structures and injuries to environmental pollution. To prevent explosions, safety protocols, regular maintenance, and proper training should be followed, and potential hazards should be identified and precautions taken.

What conservation law applies in the case of an explosion?

  • #3
I see, followed is the working:

let direction of one of the particles with 20m/s as x direction
in x direction
0=2*20+2*20*cos60+2Vx
in y direction
0= 0 +2*20*sin60+2Vy
V=sqrt(Vx^2+Vy^2)=34

ke=0.5*2*(20^2+20^2+34^2)=2.0KJ, answer is c.

I see, thanks for the confirmation :)

Related to Explosion Q34 | Learn About Explosions

What is an explosion?

An explosion is a sudden, violent release of energy in the form of heat, light, sound, and pressure. It can be caused by a chemical reaction, nuclear reaction, or physical force.

How do explosions occur?

Explosions occur when a large amount of energy is released in a short period of time. This can be caused by a rapid chemical reaction, such as combustion, or by a sudden change in pressure or temperature.

What are the different types of explosions?

There are several types of explosions, including chemical explosions, nuclear explosions, and physical explosions. Chemical explosions involve rapid reactions between substances, nuclear explosions involve the release of energy from atomic reactions, and physical explosions occur due to sudden changes in pressure or temperature.

What are the effects of explosions?

The effects of explosions can vary depending on the type and magnitude of the explosion. Some common effects include damage to structures and buildings, injuries and fatalities, and environmental pollution. Explosions can also cause shock waves, fires, and secondary explosions.

How can explosions be prevented?

Explosions can be prevented by following safety protocols, such as proper handling and storage of explosive materials, regular maintenance of equipment, and proper training for personnel. It is also important to identify potential hazards and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and explosions.
