No one discovery will "settle the matter" and even several significant discoveries taken together will only greatly winnow the field of possibilities.Ken G said:Yes that's another way to frame it, we could ask the question, what is the discovery that would settle the matter?
While not strictly speaking impossible, this possible experimental breakthrough is way down my list of likely possibilities in the foreseeable future.Ken G said:If someone detects dark matter decay of some kind, then the MOND world can just say, all that has happened is some new particle has been discovered, not the first time that's happened.
